This is the fourth part in a little series on a little book about a little man and a big fish. So far, we’ve discussed the idea that Jonah was given a great chance to work for God and bring the word to thousands of people… and he messed it up in spectacular form. He ran away. Whether he was overwhelmed by the responsibility, terrified of catching God’s personal attention, thought he was imagining things, or – more likely – was scared of going to Nineveh, the heart of the Assyrian Empire, the end result is the same. He heard the call, and he ran from it.
